Bull Race In Bali

Bull Race in Bali used to be carried out in communities to enliven religious ceremonies aimed at celebrating the harvest of rice. Nowadays the Balinese bull race is not used so much as to complement religious ceremonies but as public entertainment, mainly for tourist.

One of the places where Balinese bull race is organized on a regular basis is Bebetin village in the Sawan sub district. Tourists who come to watch the the Balinese bull race at Bebetin can see the jockeys in action and also try out their own bull riding skills.

According to the spokesperson for the cattle association in Bebetin village, it is a good way to keep the tradition alive. He advised that there are 17 people and 14 cows involved in the local 'bull race association' to keep it all going.
